Adventure awaits for Kiwi kids this summer
In 2022 Toyota forged a future-focused partnership with the Department of Conservation (DOC), bringing our Kiwi Guardians program to life. Kiwi Guardians is for kiwi tamariki and whānau to grow a love of nature through fun, accessible, and exciting activities that encourage exploration and learning.
Toyota is passionate about inspiring the generations of tomorrow and kaititakitanga - taking care of our environment and being guardians of our beautiful Aotearoa New Zealand; because our children of today will make a brighter tomorrow! Summer is the perfect time to get outdoors and go on a Toyota Kiwi Guardians adventure.
There is adventure with every turn whether it be completing one of the 15 interactive and entertaining activities in your own backyard, from attracting lizards, to building a weta motel and cleaning up your local beach. With over 110 epic self-guided adventures, you don’t have to travel far to take part in the programme.
With each adventure, you follow a map to explore the different Kiwi Guardian sites across the country and complete an activity that is designed to teach tamariki about the wonders of nature and inspire them to protect our environment. Tamariki can earn Kiwi Guardian medals and certificates with each completed activity to encourage them to keep taking part.
Here at Toyota, we imagine a Kiwi Guardian to be tamariki who looks after and cares for the environment and our heritage because we live in such a beautiful country. But best of all, you are already in it, and you can make a difference! Together, we can take actions to shape a better tomorrow, preserving our planet for future generations to enjoy.
Across our dealerships in Marlborough, Mid Canterbury and South Canterbury, there are 14 Kiwi Guardian Adventures just waiting to be explored.
If you are in Marlborough, check out the Kaipupu Wildlife Sanctuary, Mill Flat in Richmond and Taylor River Reserve.
If you are in North or mid Canterbury check out, Arthur’s Pass National Park, Godley Head, Mt Thomas Forest, Little River Railtrail along with so much more!!
If you are in South Canterbury head out to Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park where your next adventure awaits.
This summer we invite you to get outdoors with your whānau, go chase an adventure, learn more about nature, and have a blast while doing it!! So, let’s all become Kiwi Guardians.
